Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about swapping on Swap.

What is Swap?

Swap is a free barter marketplace where you trade items, services, and digital goods directly with other people — no money involved. List what you have, browse what others are offering, and make trades that work for both sides.

Is Swap really free?

Yes. There are no listing fees, no transaction fees, and no premium tiers. You can list as many items as you want, make as many offers as you want, and trade as much as you want — all for free. Forever.

What can I trade on Swap?

Four categories: Physical goods (phones, clothes, furniture, etc.), Services (design, writing, repair, tutoring, etc.), Digital goods (e-books, courses, templates, software, etc.), and Dash Out 📛 — free giveaways you hand over at no cost. Anything you legally own and are willing to trade (or give away) can be listed.

What is Dash Out? 📛

Dash Out is the 4th category on Swap, alongside Physical, Services, and Digital — it is for FREE giveaways. When you dash something out you are giving it away at no cost: no swap, no price, no credits. It is the fastest way to declutter and help someone out. Find giveaways with the "Dash Out 📛" filter on the feed.

How do I claim a Dash Out item?

Open a giveaway and tap "Claim — it's FREE 📛". There is no offer and no credits: the owner is notified instantly and, when their WhatsApp number is on file, you get a one-tap link to open the chat. Agree a pickup spot (public places are best) and pick it up — the owner chooses who to give it to.

How do I give something away on Dash Out?

When listing an item, tick "Dash Out for Free? 📛". Trade options, prices, and credits switch off automatically and your listing shows a green FREE 📛 badge in the feed. Claims land in the "Dash Out claims" inbox on your dashboard, where you can WhatsApp claimers and hit "Mark as given 🎉" once it is handed over — that removes it from the feed and thanks everyone who claimed.

Do Dash Out giveaways involve Swap Credits?

No. Dash Out items are completely free — they cannot be offered on, cannot lock anyone's items, and carry zero credit value. The only thing exchanged is the item itself, arranged directly between you and the claimer.

How does a trade work?

List an item you're willing to trade away. Browse other people's listings and make an offer using one of your own items. When the other person accepts, both items are marked as traded and you get each other's contact info to arrange the exchange. For physical items, that usually means meeting up. For services, you deliver. For digital goods, you swap files.

What happens when I make an offer?

Both items involved in the offer get locked so no one else can trade them while the offer is pending. If the other party accepts, the items move to 'traded' status and you get contact details. If the offer is declined or expires, the items go back to available.

What are Swap Credits and how do they work?

Swap Credits are the platform's built-in value for sweetening deals (1 credit ≈ $0.50). Buy them on the Credits page, attach them to an offer to make it more attractive, and they sit in escrow while the offer is pending — released back to you if the offer is cancelled, or transferred to the other trader once both of you confirm the swap. You can also spend credits at oka234.com checkout.

Do I need to have listed items to make an offer?

Yes. To keep things fair and real, you can only make an offer if you have at least one available item listed. This prevents empty accounts and ensures every trader has something to bring to the table.

Can I trade with anyone?

For physical items, the app uses location to help you find trades nearby, but you can still browse and trade with anyone. For services, you can offer local or remote. For digital goods, location doesn't matter. You always get the other party's contact info after a trade is confirmed so you can arrange the details directly.

Is Swap safe?

Swap connects you with other real people, but we don't handle the actual exchange — that's between you and the other party. Meet in public places for physical trades, verify digital files before swapping, and use your judgment. Report any suspicious activity through the app.

Can I cancel a trade?

Once an offer is accepted and both items are marked traded, the trade is considered complete. If something goes wrong, contact the other party directly using the contact info provided. If you have a serious issue, use the Report an Issue link to reach us.

How do I list an item?

Currently, listing is handled through the app's inventory system. You add items with a title, description, type (physical, service, or digital), and photos. For physical items, you can also add a location so nearby users can find them. Digital items can include a file link.

What if I don't have anything to trade right now?

You need at least one listed item to make an offer, but you can browse freely. List something you no longer need — even small items fill up your inventory and let you start trading. Sometimes the best trades start with something you forgot you had.
